A family-owned marine contractor based in South Tampa. We've built docks, seawalls, and lifts for Tampa Bay waterfront homeowners since 1992 — and we still do it with our own crew, out of our own yard, with our own trucks.
Tampa Dock Builders was started in 1992 by a second-generation Florida marine contractor who got tired of watching out-of-state outfits build docks that fell apart in five years. The plan was simple: hire a crew of Tampa Bay locals, build every dock like it was going on your own house, and stand behind the work for decades after the final invoice clears.
Three decades and more than 2,400 docks later, we're still doing it the same way. Same family ownership. Same in-house crew. Same warranty that says we'll come back and fix it ourselves.
If you want a real local Tampa dock builder — not a call center, not a national brand routing your job to whichever sub bids cheapest this week — we're the people you call.
Four things separate us from the average marine contractor. None of them are accidents.
Every dock is built by Tampa Dock Builders employees on Tampa Dock Builders trucks. Zero subcontractor shuffle. The crew you meet at the quote is the crew on your property.
The number on your contract is the number you pay. We've never sent a "change order" bill for something we should have caught at the quote.
Every piling, every connection, every span is engineered for Tampa Bay tides, salt, hurricane wind loads, and FEMA post-Idalia elevation requirements.
30-year material warranty and 5-year workmanship warranty, in writing, before you sign anything. We've honored every one for 30 years.
Our crew is twelve full-time Tampa Bay locals — marine carpenters, welders, pile-driver operators, permit specialists, and project managers. Most of them grew up on Tampa Bay water. All of them work full-time for us.
We run a fleet of four dedicated work trucks and two equipment trailers out of our South Tampa yard. When you call, you're calling the same number our crew calls. When we show up at your property, we show up in our own marked vehicles — not a rental truck and a borrowed sub.
That kind of operation costs more to run than the lead-gen model. It's also the only way we know how to deliver work that actually lasts on Tampa Bay.
After two bad experiences with other Tampa marine contractors, finding these guys was a relief. They actually pick up the phone, they actually show up when they say they will, and the dock they built for us in Davis Islands is rock solid.
The owner came out for the quote himself, walked the property, and gave us a number that didn't change. Build was clean, permitting was handled, and they even fixed a small issue with our existing seawall at no extra charge.
Had a 6,000 lb lift installed and they were the only company that actually measured my boat instead of just asking what brand it was. Real builders who give real advice. Highly recommend.
